PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clamp one of members to be butted against each other while automatically centering the same with respect to the other of the member without changing a clamp force with the use of a simple structure. SOLUTION: A pair of cylinders 4, 5 are opposed to each other, one of members to be butted against each other, being interposed therebetween. An unclamp side port of the cylinder 4 is connected to a clamp side port of the cylinder 5 through a pipe line 42 communicated with a tank 18. A bi-directional pump 45 which is located between the pipe line 42 and the tank 18, is controlled so that the difference between the rod displacements of the cylinder 4, 5 becomes equal to a set value, and further, the set value is corrected, using a degree of off-center from the reference position of the other member 10 as a correction value.
