PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arresting tool which can effectively function even if there is no wall or fence at a site where arrests are made. SOLUTION: In the arresting tool, a long rod 10 is attached to the lower end of a body frame 20, while a slide body 30 is vertically slidably attached to the upper end of the frame 20. The body 30 is being pulled upward by a spring S1. Each lower end of a left and right semicircular bodies 40, 50 each comprising a semicircular pipe is mounted to the body 30 so that both the bodies 40, 50 can be swung. Each of the pipes is pulled downward by a spring S2 so that both the pipes are brought into contact with pulleys 44, 54 respectively. The vertical motion of the body 30 associates with the open/closure motion of the bodies 40, 50. If a protrusion 31 is pressed against a person 60 to be captured, the body 30 moves downward and the bodies 40, 50 are closed so as to surround the parson 60, thereby locking him at the location thereof.
