PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water soluble resin composition where a water soluble polymer [especially a (co)polymer having N-vinylamide or N-alkylamide as monomer units] doesn't decay even in a long-term preservation/storage and transportation. SOLUTION: This water soluble resin composition includes (A) at least one water soluble polymer comprising a homopolymer obtained from a monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl-N-methylacetamide, N- vinylacetamide, N-isopropylmethacrylamide and N-isopropylacrylamide, and/or a copolymer obtained from two or more kinds of monomers above mentioned, (B) at least one of water soluble antibacterial agents and (C) water.
