PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the tray push function for generating a tray pulling signal when a user pushes a disk tray at an ejecting position in an optical disc recording and reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical disc recording and reproducing apparatus has a tray slidable with a case, a tray driving mechanism is operated by a motor, and a controlling microcomputer 100 gives an instruction for operating a tray according to a load command C1 from the apparatus body, a command C2 from an eject switch, or a command C3 from a sensor for detecting the tray pushing. While the tray is at a stop position, a mute signal S5 is outputted to a motor driver 120 to set an offset voltage to zero and hold this state. Upon input of the command C3 from the tray push sensor, the microcomputer 100 cancels the mute signal S5 and drives the tray. Since the offset voltage is set to zero in the tray stop state, the load is constant until the tray is pushed to turn off the sensor and hence the tray push operating force is made stable.
