PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print at a predetermined printing position of a label irrespective of a breadth of the label when the label is to be set so that the center of the label agrees with the center of a printing head. SOLUTION: In a label printer or the like in which a label is set so that the center of the label agrees with the center of a printing head, data showing printing start positions of labels (abscissa basic points B) based on the printing head corresponding to breadths of the labels is stored in a memory beforehand. When the breadth of the label is inputted, the data showing the abscissa basic point B corresponding to the breadth of the label is read out from the memory. Data showing an edition basic point D indicating a printing position based on the printing head is obtained on the basis of data showing a printing lateral position C based on the label and on the data showing the abscissa basic point B. Printing is carried out from a position indicated by the edition basic point D.
