The transport device for horizontally stacked railway coach wall panels (30') has a support surface (32') at the bottom which is shaped to fit against the lowest panel. Buffers (50) are positioned between the panels and a bar (48) holds the stack in position. The ends of the stack are supported by vertical supports (14a, 14b) with shields (42) to prevent the ends of the panels from coming into contact with the supports.
