PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image input apparatus capable of emphasizing the contrast of the flaw of an object to be imaged and a background and capable of reducing a frea overlooking the flaw to enhance the reliability of flaw inspection. SOLUTION: When an object 1 to be imaged is illuminated by a luminaire 2 and the illuminated surface thereof is photographed by a line sensor camera 7 through an image forming lens 6, an illumination orienting and adjusting plate 3 is provided between the luminaire 2 and the object 1 to be imaged and an incident light orienting and adjusting plate 5 is provided between the object 1 to be imaged and the image forming lens 6 and these plates 3, 5 are allowed to cooperate with each other to emphasize the contrast of the flaw of the object to be imaged against a background.
