PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a magneto-resistance effect type head which is small in the distortion of a reproducing waveform, and also to improve the yield in the production of such head. SOLUTION: The method is constituted of an element forming process for forming plural elements 12 on a wafer 11, a wiring forming process for forming the wiring which supplies an electric current to the plural elements 12 thus formed in a batch, and a magnetizing direction fixing process which, while giving a heat treatment to the wafer formed with the wiring, flows an electric current in a batch to each of the plural elements 12 through the wiring so formed and which fixes the magnetizing direction of each magnetic layer on the fixed side of these element 12.
