PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder never generating any uncomfortable vibration noise such as pad creak resulted from the vibration of a separation pad holder. SOLUTION: The separation pad holder 7 for retaining a separation pad 7c is rockable about a dowel 1a in the direction making contact with and separating from a feed roller 4. The holder 7 is energized in a feed roller direction (arrowed direction B) by a pressure spring 6. According to this, the separation pad 7c is pressed onto the feed roller 4. Pressure springs (plate springs) 7d, 7d for energizing the holder 7 in the dowel 1a direction are interposed on both lateral side parts of a sheet between the holder 7 and a cassette 1. When the holder 7 is vibrated, the pressure springs 7d, 7d friction in the contact part with the cassette 1 to damp the vibration.
