PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a silver halide photographic sensitive material by which rapid processing can be carried out, the sensitive material is dried to the optimum state and good dimensional stability is imparted to the finished sensitive material. SOLUTION: In the processing method in which a silver halide photographic sensitive material having <=2.5 g/m2 total amount of gelatin on the substrate on at least the side with a silver halide emulsion layer is processed in 5-25 sec developing time with an automatic processing machine, the sensitive material contains 0.3-1.5 g/m2, in total, of colloidal inorganic particles on the side with the silver halide emulsion layer, a developing solution used contains >=40 g/l sulfite and >=30 g/l dihydroxybenzenes and a heated drying member is brought into contact with the surface of the sensitive material in the drying step of the automatic processing machine.
