A method for multicasting data on a network (1), the network (1) including a plurality of nodes (10, 12, 14), the nodes (10, 12, 14) including connections forming a characteristic distribution tree. The method comprises receiving at a storing node (12), data sent from a higher level node (10) on the network (1), storing the received data in memory at the storing node (12) and transmitting the data stored at the storing node (12) to lower level nodes (14) on the network (1), wherein any communication required for the transmission of such data to lower level nodes (14) on the network is not passed further up the distribution tree. |
