The invention discloses a new polypeptide- human GM2 activator protein 8.8, the polynucleotide encoding said polypeptide, and a process for producing the polypeptide by recombinant DNA technology. It also discloses methods of applying the polypeptide for the treatment of various diseases, such as development disorder of nervous system, various tissue malignancy. This invention also discloses antagonist against said polypeptide and therapy uses thereof.
