The image sensor is disposed between the first and second grooves.

1. A preparation comprising:
an image sensor having a front surface and a back surface opposite the front surface, the front surface including an imaging area; a package having a front surface and a rear surface and including a plurality of terminals which are electrically connected to the image sensor via a plurality of electrodes, the front surface of the package contacting or opposing the back surface of the image sensor; and a transparent plate disposed so as to oppose the front surface of the image sensor with a mounting medium interposed therebetween, the mounting medium being used for covering at least part of an object, the transparent plate having first and second grooves on a surface which opposes the front surface of the image sensor, wherein at least part of the image sensor is disposed between the first and second grooves, and at least part of each of the plurality of electrodes is positioned within the first groove or the second groove.
