PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure vapor discharge lamp for preventing generation of back arc when stating a lamp, reducing lamp initial defectives and improving a service life characteristics. SOLUTION: In the high pressure vapor discharge lamp in which a luminescent tube having a main tube made of translucent ceramic and a capillary having a small diameter than that of the main tube at both the ends are used, an electric introducing body is airtightly fixed by a sealing member by being inserted into the capillary, an electrode is connected with a center side of the luminescent tube of the electric introducing body, the electrode is constituted of an electrode core bar, a first coil wound on an internal side of the luminescent tube and a second coil wound on an external side of the luminescent tube and the luminescent tube filled with ionizable filler including metal halide is provided, a ceramic member is mounted between the first coil and the second coil.
