PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding die for an optical element which is capable of precisely and inexpensively producing the optical element using a heating furnace heatable in non-oxidizing atmosphere without requiring a molding press having a conventional pressing mechanism, and also to provide a method of using it. SOLUTION: In the molding die for producing the optical element, the molding die is provided with a pressing mechanism that presses at least one of the cores 1. The pressing mechanism uses an elastic body 7 composed of a nickel- based alloy or ceramics each of which can be pressed even near the temperature for pressing. The elastic body 7 is constituted by obtaining pressure force due to deformation thereof by fastening of a screw 9.
