The sustained release preparation of clarithromycin is provided to reduce the administration number in the oral administration by controlling the emission pattern of the clarithromycin, thereby maintaining the fixed concentration in blood in the administration to the living body. The sustained release composition for the oral administration of clarithromycin comprises the pharmacological active component including clarithromycin, the sustained release carrier which is the hydrophilic polymer consisting of the polyethylene oxide, and the pharmaceutically acceptable additives including povidone and copovidone.
