PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device by which the detection of paper jamming is performed without delay and erroneous detection and whose cost is reduced by a simple constitution of a paper jamming detecting means. SOLUTION: The fixing device of an image forming device having a fixing roller to fix an image on paper by pressing and holding the paper, a pressure roller to press the fixing roller and a separating pawl freely attached to/ detached from the fixing roller and to peel the paper after fixing from the fixing roller possesses at least one reflection type sensor positioned in the vicinity of the separating pawl and to detect the existence of the paper and the reflection type sensor is installed on the feeding path on the side of the pressure roller.
