PURPOSE:To prevent the image forming material removing process from being unwittingly performed by preriminarily discriminating the surface deterioration of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:The deteriorated state of a transfer paper 10 before toner removing process is detected by using a detecting means (step 1). The detected result is compared with the preriminarily set reference value showing a specific deterioration state and judged whether the detected result is in the range of the reference value or not (step 2). Now, if the detected result is judged that it is in the range of the reference value, the toner removing process is performed as it is (step 3), and when detected result is judged that it is not in the range of the reference value, namely when the transfer paper 10 is judged that it is deteriorated over the standard, the toner removing process is performed with regard to the transfer paper 10 by moving the vertically movable pair of separating roller 302 so as not to apply the pressure on the transfer paper 10. |
