PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Tatami which prevents of breeding of mold and house ticks by means of its improved humidity control, gives softer touch to feet, does not cause a sick house syndrome. SOLUTION: A Tatami base floor D comprises a core material S formed with laminated plant fiber plates 3, 4, 5, an unbleached cotton cloth sheet 6 laminated on the core material S, and an unbleached cotton cloth sheet 7 laminated under the core material S. The plant fiber plates 3, 4, 5 are formed by bonding wood fibers not including waste materials from wooden buildings with a plant-based adhesive. A Tatami facing 1 is made of woven natural igusa reed dyed with mud, which was cultivated without using chemical fertilizers and with restrained use of agrichemicals. It is also to be noted that unbleached cotton cloth is used for a Tatami edge 2.
