METHOD FOR SEPARATING ESTER COMPOUND FROM ACID CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for separating an ester compound from an acid catalyst used in a reflux dehydration reaction to obtain the ester compound in a high yield at a low cost and in high productivity. SOLUTION: This method for separating the ester compound from the acid catalyst comprises subjecting a carboxylic acid and an alcohol or phenol compound to a dehydrative esterification reaction in the presence of the acid catalyst, neutralizing the acid catalyst with an organic base to form the salt of the acid catalyst, and then adding water to a non-aqueous solvent solution thereof to separately transfer the produced ester compound and the acid catalyst organic base salt to the non-aqueous solvent layer and the water layer, respectively.
