PURPOSE: Provided are system and method for recovering germanium from effluents(SiO2, GeO2 and GeCl4) generated in manufacturing optical fiber through chemical vapor deposition, which protects scrubbing system and improves yield of Ge by removing SiO2 in advance and extracting Ge. CONSTITUTION: The method for recovering Ge, which is characterized by removing SiO2 particles before extracting Ge, comprises the steps of: separating SiO2 particles from optical fiber manufacturing effluents, SiO2, GeO2 and GeCl4, by SiO2 collector using gravity, centrifugal force, filtering or scrubbing; precipitating remaining SiO2 and dissolving Ge compounds into scrubbing water; extracting Ge and solidifying into Ge cakes. |
