PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic opening/closing device for a lid 1 of a sample bottle 2, which has a simple constitution, is stable and, has a high reliability for a sample handling automated system in a medicine creating field or an examination field having a process wherein samples such as various kinds of compounds or specimens stored in a large number of bottles of the same shape are frequently taken out. SOLUTION: A DC motor 3 is used as an opening/closing driving source for the lid 1. Then, when the lid 1 is closed, the current flowing on the motor 3 is detected, and is controlled to have a proper torque by operating a control circuit 7 to close the lid 1. When the lid 1 is opened, the lid 1 is surely opened by obtaining a larger torque than that of when the lid 1 is closed, by releasing the control circuit 7.
