PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surplus soil carry-out bag which is inserted into an erected posthole remaining after removal of a utility pole, for housing therein excavated surplus soil, to thereby remove almost all the surplus soil together with the bag, and to provide a surplus soil carry-out method using the bag. SOLUTION: The surplus soil carry-out bag 1 includes a cylindrical bag portion 2 having an upper opening, into which surplus soil generated at the time of excavating a side wall of the erected posthole is put in. The bag portion 2 has annular deadweight rings 3 arranged along a side peripheral portion thereof, to thereby form the bag portion like a bellows. Further, a bag opening portion 4 made of an elastic body is arranged on an upper opening edge of the bag portion 2 in a manner opening like a funnel in an upper diagonal direction, and carrying belts 5 are extended from the bag portion 2, whereby the surplus soil generated by excavation of the side wall of the erected posthole can be taken out of the posthole.
