PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing an N-oxide by reaction between a tertiary amine and hydrogen peroxide. SOLUTION: The method for producing the N-oxide comprises carrying out a reaction between the tertiary amine and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a tungsten oxide catalyst prepared by reaction of hydrogen peroxide with metallic tungsten and/or a tungsten compound made from tungsten and a group IIIb element, group IVb element, group Vb element or group VIb element except oxygen.
