PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excessive pickling of a strip by maintaining the liquid acid concentration in each pickling tank at a constantly adequate value, and to improve the acid regeneration efficiency and the workability in a pickling device and a pickling method. SOLUTION: The liquid acid supply amount QSP<SB>0</SB>to a fifth acid circulation tank 25 is set based on the data of a steel plate S and a preset concentration value of a first acid circulation tank 21. FSP is set by correcting the liquid acid supply amount QSP<SB>0</SB>based on the difference between the preset concentration value of the fifth acid circulation tank 25 and the measured liquid acid concentration by a densitometer 78 or a steel plate transporting speed. The acid liquid supply amount QSP<SB>1</SB>to be added to the first acid circulation tank 21 is set based on the preset concentration value of the first acid circulation tank 21 and the measured acid liquid concentration by a densitometer 74, and the liquid acid supply amount QSP<SB>0</SB>is corrected.
