PURPOSE: An automatic gain controller of a wireless frequency communication system is provided to control gain of a reception signal by observing an absolution value of the reception signal during an arbitrary interval, comparing the greatest absolute value with a threshold value and outputting a gain control value. CONSTITUTION: An amplitude providing unit(72) receives a gain-controlled reception signal, and calculates and outputs an absolute value of the signal. A buffer(73) stores absolute values of reception signals. A controller(74) extracts the greatest one of the absolute values of signals stored in the buffer(73), compares it with a threshold value, determines a gain control value to be multiplied to a reception signal, and outputs it. A multiplier(71) multiplies the gain control value to a reception signal, amplifies it, and outputs the amplified signal to an I/Q demodulator(75).
