<p>A method for producing a powder composition, which comprises melting by heating a carbonhydrate mixture containing 30 to 70 mass % of trehalose and a plastilizer, admixing the resulting melt with a core material into a uniform mixture, cooling the uniform mixture while extruding, to solidify it, and cutting or pulverizing the resultant solid material; a powder composition produced by the method; and a food or a drink comprising the powder composition. The powder composition is, for example, converted into a plate gum through kneading with a gum base, a powdery sugar, corn syrup, and the like, followed by spreading. The powder composition exhibits low hygroscopicity and excellent storage stability, is easy with respect to the uniform dispersion of a core material, can contain a satisfactory amount of the core material, is excellent in gustatory characteristics, and can be preferably used as a flavor imparting or enhancing agent or the like which is free from the feeling of adhering to a tooth when added to a gum, a tablet confectionery or the like.</p> |
