FIELD: alternative fuels. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of high-octane automobile fuels that can be used both on automobile fuel production lines and on separate standard installations wherein simple mixing of components is performed. Therefore, initial straight-run gasoline or gasoline A-76 is mixed with 92-96% ethyl alcohol at volume ratio (78-85):(15-25) or (15-25):(75-85), respectively. Resulting mixture is warmed to 40-90°C and kept at this temperature for 20-30 min, after which cooled, re-warmed to the same temperature, and kept for further 10-15 min. ^ EFFECT: increased octane number at lower content of aromatic hydrocarbons. ^ 2 tbl
