Process for assembling to metal sheets coated with a protected layer

Assembly of at least two sheets (1,2) coated with a protective layer (18) includes the welding of the sheets by the creation of a weld ribbon. It incorporates a stage of covering the weld ribbon with a protective material for reconstituting the protective coating (17). The material is continuously deposited as a powder or wire with a heat source (8) which is displaced along the weld ribbon, to melt the material and then allowing it to solidify on the weld ribbon. An independent claim is also included for an installation for putting this method of assembly into service.
