PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of preventing a picture displayed by a display means when driving a mirror unit from getting hard-to-view. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a finder optical system capable of observing a subject image by using luminous flux from a photographic lens (103); the mirror unit switched to a 1st state where it reflects the luminous flux toward the finder optical system and a 2nd state where it makes the luminous flux reach the imaging device (106) and then driven; the display means (107) for displaying the picture generated by using output from the imaging element; and a control means (135) for controlling the driving of the display means.
