PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality film having a low heat-shrinkage rate and excellent in heat dimensional stability, planarity and productivity. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film comprises at least non-liquid crystal polyester and liquid crystalline polyester as components and has 1.5-50 aspect ratio of the liquid crystalline polymer in the film, <1 ratio (RaM/RaT) of surface roughness (RaM) in longitudinal direction of the film to surface roughness (RaT) in the width direction and 0.1-1.5% absolute values of heat-shrinkage rates at 160°C in the longitudinal direction and the width direction.
