PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hat shape steel sheet pile, which method can manufacture the hat shape steel sheet pile having a projected ridge on an outward pawl side by rolling a steel sheet without crushing the projected ridge and deforming an arm portion, and can secure the strength of rolls. SOLUTION: The hat shape steel sheet pile is manufactured as follows. The hat shape steel sheet pile has a projected ridge 5 on an outward pawl 4<SB>1</SB>side of a joint portion 4 so that the central point of the joint engagement is located in the range of the thickness of an arm portion, and further the right and left sides of mutually opposite U shape portions are horizontally held. When the mutually opposite U shape portions are formed by a successive roll-forming process composed of a rough rolling step, an intermediate rolling step, and a finish rolling step using caliber rolls, the arm portion 3 of a steel material to be rolled is lifted so as to form a V-shape at least in the intermediate rolling step. The steel material has been rolled such that the portion 6 connecting the arm portion with a flange 2 is located in the lowest portion, and then the arm portion is returned to be horizontal by one or more passes including the final pass.
