PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can suppress a reduction in the contrast of display images by suppressing display defects such as light leakage at boundaries between reflective display parts and transmissive display parts. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a pair of opposed substrates 3 and 4, a liquid crystal layer 5 interposed between the pair of substrates 3 and 4, a display part 6 comprising a matrix of display pixels PX and having the reflective display parts A1 and transmissive display parts A2 of different gaps of the liquid crystal layer 5, and a shield layer 15 overlapping at least part of boundaries 14 between the reflective display parts A1 and the transmissive display parts A2.
