1304955 Rotary dampers; valves ANDERSON GREENWOOD & CO 22 June 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 30147/70 Headings F2S and F2V An adjustable rotary damper, Fig. 4, for damping oscillations of the valve member P of a swing check valve V, Fig. 1, has rotor plates 52 mounted on a shaft 44 to rotate relative to stator rings 54 mounted in the liquid-containing damper housing 46 and the damping is varied by adjusting the rotor-stator spacing from outside the housing. The rotor plates 52 and the stator rings 54 are slidably mounted on the shaft 44 and bolt 58 respectively and, as shown, adjustment of their spacing is effected by rota. ting screw 74 which moves plate 72 axially. In Fig. 5, not shown, adjustment is effected by a hub (108) and a screw-threaded ring (110). Holes 70 in the stator rings assist circulation of the liquid between the plates. A particular silicone fluid is specified. The valve member P, Fig. 1, is biased towards its seat S by a light spring or by gravity. |
