Brushes with metallic bristles held by heat conductive rubber - using metallic fillers and surface coatings to enhance heat transfer

Brushes with metal bristles comprise filaments doubled over and trapped in a split casing lined with blocks of elastic material, the blocks being heat conducting, and treated with a surface coating compatible with the blocks to enhance heat dissipation from the bristles. The brushes are used for motorised scourers or polishers incorporating linear or annular arrays of bristles. Enhanced heat dissipation allows use of higher brush rotation speeds or pressure loadings, hence friction induced heating, without causing thermal degradation of the elastomeric mounting of the bristles.
