1395285 Adjustable length link TRICO PRODUCTS CORP 21 March 1973 [22 March 1972] 13615/73 Heading F2K A connecting link 26 in a motor-vehicle windscreen wiper blade drive 28 is adjustable in length to facilitate setting the park position of the wiper blades 16 during initial assembly of the windscreen wiper blade transmission-drive linkage to the vehicle. As shown, the adjustable link 26 comprises a connecting arm 30 and an end extension 32 formed with co-operating transverse serrations 36, 40 which can be engaged or released by a turnable lever 50 fast at one end 60 of a headed stud 44 pivotally mounted through a hole 42 in the extension 32 and elongated slots 37, 48 in the arm 30 and a leaf spring 46, the headed stud 44 being formed with wedging cam surfaces 56 which co-operate with recesses 62 in the extension 32 when the lever 50 is turned, as in Fig. 2, to release the serrations 36, 40 for length adjustment of the link 26, the link arm 30 and extension 32 being locked in any required setting by turning back the lever 50, as in Fig. 3, whereby the wedging cams 56 ride out of the recesses 62 to axially lock the assembly against the leaf spring 46 to mesh and lock the serrations 36, 40. A pressed fork spring latch clip 68 on the lever 50 locks the connecting link assembly 26 in any adjusted set length and secures the link end 38 to a grooved pivot pin 70 of a motor driven crank 24. A similar arrangement (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) has a simplified cam-wedging arrangement formed on the lever and end extension for releasably locking the co-operating serrations. |
