摘要 <p>Process and appts. is intended for the control and analysis of dissolved oxygen in aq. liqs. hitherto chemical methods of analysis were used and took several hours; the new appts. gives a result in eight minutes. Appts. comprises a pump which brings the water to be studied into a 1000 cc. cylindrical chamber; this has a vertical probe leaving by the passage. Pipe carries the water through an electric valve and a catalytic cell; this consists of a porous glass cartridge contg. a mixt. of rare metals oggp. III. These form an oxide, with the dissolved oxygen,which dissolves instantaneously giving a powerful electrolyte; this passes by pipe and the valve to the rustproof1000 cc cylinder, fitted with a resistance probe and an overflow. The two probes are connected to the Wheatstone bridge and the resistances in the two cylinders compared. The increase in the conductivity corresponds to the quantity of dissolved oxygen absorbed in the catalytic cell. The pH can be measured in the cell. The appts. can be utilised for the control fo waste water and sewage treatment plants, for the detection of oxygen in fermentation cultures and for boiler-water treatment. The results can be transmitted to remote-controlled relays at the necessary technical points.</p>
