1434297 Lamps DANIEL WOODHEAD Inc 12 Oct 1973 [12 Oct 1972] 47754/73 Heading F4R A lamp bulb guard comprises a substantially cylindrical hollow body 26 adapted to house the bulb, a substantially cylindrical coaxial neck 27, and a flared portion 31 connecting the neck to the body, a plurality of elongated horizontal circumferentially spaced ventilating slots 32 being provided in the upper part of the body and/or the flared portion and respective curtain walls 38 being disposed inwardly of the slots, each wall depending from the flared portion and being of substantially the same length as the corresponding slot. Preferably each wall is slightly shorter and deeper than the adjacent slot. The neck is provided with a tapered internal ring 29 adapted to engage resiliently in an annular recess (19) in a lamp socket housing (14). In a modification the neck is made resilient by the provision of axially extending slits (41). The guard may be made from transparent or translucent plastics material. |
