摘要 An internal combustion engine including a fuel system and cylinders is described. A gaseous fuel admission valve is associated with each cylinder and configured to connect the fuel system with each respective cylinder. A control unit is electrically connected to each of gaseous fuel admission valves and, for each gaseous fuel admission valve, configured to provide an opening electrical current to open the gaseous fuel admission valve, a holding electrical current to hold the gaseous fuel admission valve in an open position and a detection electrical current to detect the position of the gaseous fuel admission valve. The control unit is further configured to determine whether the gaseous fuel admission valve is closed based on the time required to achieve the detection electrical current.
