1536485 Thickened bleach from dispenser PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 26 March 1976 [27 March 1975] 12233/76 Heading D1P A thickened chlorine bleach having a viscosity in the range 200 cps-100,000 cps is in releasable combination with a dispensing means for treatment of damp fabrics in a tumbler dryer. The chlorine bleach may be a hypochlorite, chlorinated trisodium phosphate, a chlorinated cyanuric acid derivative, a chlorinated hydantoin, a chlorosulphamide, a chloramine, chloramide, chloramine or chlorimide. The thickener may be CMC, a polyacrylamide, a colloidal or pyrogenic silica, a synthetic hydrophilic Laponite (R.T.M.) or smectite clay of particle size 0.025-50 microns, which may be added to an aqueous or solvent solution of the bleach e.g. to form a gel. Preferred smectite clays are those having an ion exchange capacity of at least 50 meq/100g which also provide a soft hand to the fabrics treated therewith. The composition may further include a distribution aid e.g. urea or a carboxylic acid. The dispensing means preferably comprises a pouch formed by heat-sealing a plastics sheet perforated or embossed to the point of perforation in a regular pattern to provide holes having an average diameter of from 0.05-3mm. |
