<p>The efficiency of a hydraulic seal such as is formed by a valve dish pivoting on a horizontal axis, so as to close the lower end of a vertical duct, and esp. by a valve dish forming a hydraulic seal separating the rising column for the distillation gases of a coke oven from a horizontal duct, is maintained continuously by spraying an aqueous liquid on the dish hinge shaft. The liquid used is ammoniated water, and it is sprayed on at a rate of from 1 to 5 m3 per hour. Ensures that the valve on the horizontal duct for the distillation gases, which is used only during charging, remains clean and able to maintain a tight joint.</p> |
