1489600 Smokeless exothermic compositions CONSOLIDATED CERAMIC PRODUCTS Inc 9 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 43775/74 Heading C5G A smokeless exothermic hot topping composition consists essentially of an effective exothermic amount up to 50 wt. per cent of an oxide of iron in finely divided form, an effective exothermic amount up to 15% by weight of finely divided aluminium and/or alloy thereof, the balance of the composition being predominantly composed of inert finely divided filler material. "Smokeless" is defined as a Ringelmann number less than 1 or an equivalent opacity of less than 20%. The composition may contain 1 to 4% by weight of granular graphite. The inert filler material may be raw fire clay, silica flour, silica sand, fire-clay grog, perlite, expanded perlite, olivine or bauxite. The ingredients may be bound in pellet form by a refractory binder (e.g. fire clay).
