<p>The monitoring system is for load-handling mechanisms with lifting, travelling and slewing motions and brakes to halt load movement under dangerous conditions such as shaft breakage, distortion or excess wear of gears, supporting chassis etc. when a signal is emitted to stop the driving motor and engage the brake. Parallel to the gearbox driving the load an unloaded measuring drive is coupled giving the same overall ratio, and pref. to the free end of the motor shaft etc. to which no torque is applied. Under normal conditions the load and measuring drives run at the same speed, but they are coupled to a signal emitter, so that as soon as they start to rotate in relation to each other the motor is switched off and the brake applied.</p> |
