Motor vehicle ignition distributor - uses rotating discs with magnetically polarised teeth creating flux variations in signal coil

An ignition distributor for a motor vehicle has centrifugal advance and vacuum correction and contains a magnetic circuit comprising a rotating disc with permanent magnet. The disc operates in conjunction with poles on a coil assembly to provide ignition signals. A shaft (3c) in a distributor is driven from the vehicle engine to rotate two discs with polarised teeth (22) spaced at 90 degs. on the periphery. A magnet between the discs provides a magnetic field which is coupled to a signal coil (17) via fixed pole pieces (19a) on flux conductors (16). As the shaft rotates the teeth create strong variations on fluex in the coil to generate strong signals for use by an electronic ignition circuit.
