In a device for treating products with gamma radiation, a lifting unit for displacing the framework in which the irradiation sources are carried, between a position protecting it from the environment by a screen and an operating position, consists of a differential pulley block and a servo-motor, pref. a hydraulic or pneumatic actuator, one set of pulleys being fixed to the outlet element of the servo motor while the other set is fixed in space, the mobile section of the cables being connected to the support frame of the irradiation sources. Appts. provides a simple, reliable lifting mechanism for the support frame, permitting its braked but rapid descent to its protested position.
