The lower ends of the tubes 4 of a tube-type electrode plate for a lead-acid storage battery are sealed closed by a strip of synthetic resin forming the lower end of the plate, the synthetic resin being cast in a two-part mould (1,2) onto the ends of the tubes when they are in an inverted position. The synthetic resin is of the kind which is non-foamable and which solidifies upon cooling without the presence of a hardener, a particular example being a terpolymer comprising ethylene, propylene, and isomers of butene. <IMAGE> |
