PURPOSE:To achieve the decrease in pulse voltages, the improvement in picture quality and the increase in the speed of image formation by letting inks by risen into the through-holes of a screen-form member through cooperation of a counter electrode and control electrodes. CONSTITUTION:With the applied voltage between an ink 5 and a counter electrode 8 being kept low so as not to allow the ink 5 to rise into openings, pulse voltages are applied to control electrodes 6 according to image information, then the ink 5 is filled in through-holes 2 by the cooperation of the electrostatic attraction of the counter electrode 8 and control electrodes 6. Since the surfaces of the through- hole 2 walls are held covered with an ink repulsion layer 3, the ink does not enter the inside of the through-holes 2 to which no voltage-pulses have been applied. The screen-form member formed with images on the surface thereof is carried up to the transfer position, where the images are transferred onto the printing medium 16 on a roller 16. In this way, the decrease in pulse voltage, the improvement in image quality and the increase in the speed of image formation are made possible. |
