PURPOSE:To prevent recording of desired broadcasting from becoming imperfect by detecting the residual quantity of tape prior to recording and displaying the same. CONSTITUTION:An operating means 42 of tape recording residual time operates the residual time t of tape by the signals from a tape residual quantity detecting means 40 and a sub information inputting means 44. The resdual time is digitally displayed by a means 46. Thape speed and thickness information is outputted from the means 44. On the other hand, the time lengths of the time t and the set time T from a timer time setting part 50 are compared in a means 52 and when t < T, a signal is outputted to cause warning to be generated by a means 54.
