Cooling or chilling apparatus (10) for cooling or chilling beverage containers (36) such as bottles or cans including a chamber (16) which includes a chilling liquid (35) cooled by a refrigeration unit and a support arrangement for supporting containers in the liquid (35). A flexible membrane in the form of a plastics bag (27) surrounds the containers (36) to prevent the containers (36) coming into direct contact with the liquid (35) but which permits the chilling liquid to cool the contents of the containers (35).
