<p>The energy storage system for an electric vehicle comprises accumulators of the Pb/H2 SO4 type, which are cyclically recharged. The accumulators comprise grid plates of tube-type plate cells. Each accumulator cell has a device for catalytically recombining into water the hydrogen and oxygen gases given off during charging. At least one recombination device comprises a temperature sensor which is connected to a gas controlled charging set, and acts as a gas flow indicator. The charging set is provided with a charging controller which stores the time between the commencement of charging and the commencement of gassing, as indicated by the temperature sensor in the recombination device, as the main charging time. It then controls the residual charging time with a reduced charging current in a predetermined ratio to the main charging time.</p> |
